Jane Bassuk

My art quilts create surreal landscapes that use organic shapes derived from the flora and fauna of the natural world. I am fascinated by the juxtaposition of architectural and artificial objects with natural shapes and environments. Some of my recent pieces trigger emotions and visual associations that relate to my Jewish heritage. My work reflects my continual quest to understand myself and my relationship to the world. I have an MFA and an MA in painting from the University of Iowa, over twenty years experience teaching art at North Hennepin Community College, and have had work in exhibitions in various venues throughout the Midwest. My work is in the permanent collection of the Walker Art Center. www.janebassukartist.com
